If you are a Year 1, Year 2, or GEM Year student contemplating withdrawing or transferring from the MBChB Programme, you should discuss this, in the first instance, with the Student Pastoral Support (SPS) team. This is so that appropriate advice can be given, including the possibility of making a fresh start on another Programme.
If you are a Year 3, 4 or 5 student in the same situation, you should contact the SPS Team at your Clinical Education Campus in the first instance, for appropriate advice.
If you wish to pursue either of these options, you will be referred to the Central School SPS Team for further discussion of your options and, if you do decide to leave the Programme, an exit interview.
Please note that the MBChB Programme cannot make arrangements on your behalf for you to transfer onto an alternative programme. You are responsible for approaching the Admissions department of the programme or University that you are interested in yourself.
There are exit awards available to students at different points of the Programme based on successful completion of full years of study, and which involve no additional Programme components. These are available as follows:

*Exit awards only; these awards do not allow professional registration with the GMC. These exit awards are not available to students who have achieved a BSc (or equivalent) degree award through intercalation or to students joining the programme in Year 3 from St. Andrews or Dentistry. Direct entry students from IMU however will be eligible for exit awards (if they successfully complete Year 3 or higher of the Manchester MB ChB and then exit) as they do not receive a degree award prior to joining our Programme.
Students who achieve an intercalated MSc or a PhD on the MB-PhD route will also be provided an exit award if they withdraw from the Programme before full completion as long as they fulfil the above stated eligibility criteria.
Following your withdrawal from the Programme, the Board of Examiners will decide on any relevant exit award that you are entitled to. Thereafter, you will be contacted by the Assessment and Progression Team with the outcome.
