Stopford Building Computer Clusters

The computing facilities available to all Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health students are based around PC clusters in the Stopford Building. It should be noted that priority is given to teaching sessions, and general access to the PC clusters in Stopford Building is restricted at these times. Timetables showing cluster availability are in printed form and are displayed at the entrance to each cluster, informing students when teaching is not taking place and that the clusters are available for free access.

PC clusters are supported by IT Services, who can be contacted by phone, in-person or online if any technical support is needed.

Most of the evidence based medicine teaching on campus takes place in the largest of these clusters – PC cluster 2, based in the teaching block of the Stopford Building (room G.321). PC cluster 2 contains 179 student PCs across 4 bays.

PC cluster 1 has 63 PCs, is open from 08:30 until 19:00, and is located near the entrance to the Stopford Building (room G.055). PC cluster 3 (20 PCs) is located in room G.827 at the rear of the Stopford Building, and is open from 9.00 am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

The PCs run Windows 11 with Microsoft 365, providing access to the standard suite of software (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and more). Additional software includes many CAL packages and software such as Statsdirect.

For students returning in September 2025, please note that Windows 11 cluster PCs now use OneDrive to synchronise files saved in the ‘Desktop’ and ‘Documents’ locations. To retrieve files previously saved to Desktop and Documents on earlier Windows 10 computers, use the ‘P Drive’ link which can be found on the desktop.

• Leamington Room – Humanities Building, Lime Grove

This is situated in the basement of the Main Humanities Building, next to the Language Centre
