Board of Examiners

Each set of examinations for the Programme has a Board of Examiners chaired by the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the MBChB Programme, or a nominated deputy. Year specific External Examiners are invited to attend each Board. The Board of Examiners looks at the results of the examination(s) and confirms who has satisfied the examiners (i.e. passed), considers recommendations from the Mitigating Circumstances Panel and the Academic Malpractice Panel, and the requirements for reassessments for unsatisfactory students.

Marks cannot be altered at a student’s request under any circumstances by the Board of Examiners or the Mitigating Circumstances Panel. Marks cannot be altered as the result of an academic appeal.

Sometimes it is not possible to hold a Board of Examiners until several weeks after the examination has taken place. In these circumstances, the Programme may issue provisional results. These results are provisional and therefore may change until they have been ratified by a Board of Examiners.
