Support for International Students

In addition to the general support offered by the University and the staff of the MBChB to all medical students, if you are an international student you may find the following guidance helpful:

The International Society, c/o UMSU, Oxford Road,  Manchester, M13 9PR, offers a social base for international students and also advice, information and trips out: Call 0161 275 2930 or email info@internationalsociety.org.uk.

The University’s Student Immigration Team in the Student Services Centre sees students on an individual basis to discuss any problems  you may have. Tel: 0161 275 5000 or email visa@manchester.ac.uk.

Financial advice aimed specifically at international students is available here and don’t forget to look at the Financial Support page.

Remember your student peer mentors are here to help you settle in, and why not join a medical student society (or one of the wider university societies) to help you get to know UK students? UK English may differ very slightly from English learned overseas, so the more UK based friends you have, the easier you will find consultation skills both in the NHS and in CCAs, plus you may find yourself invited into a UK home or shown around the tourist spots.
