Progression Terminology Definition
Interruption The student is taking a period of leave from the Programme with the intention that they will return at a future date.
Intercalation The student has decided to take time out of the Programme to complete an intercalated degree.
Discontinued The Programme has acted to temporarily discontinue the student for triggering progression rules (i.e. clinical block failures, poor attendance), with the intention that the student will return to repeat the year the following academic year.
Withdrawal The student has opted to leave the Programme of their own accord or failure to return after interruption.
Exclusion The Programme has enforced that the student must leave due to reasons such as academic misconduct / progression issues. The student’s studies on the Programme will be terminated and the student’s registration at the University will cease.
