The National Student Survey (NSS) is a national initiative, conducted annually which runs across all publicly-funded higher education institutions in the UK.

The survey asks all final year undergraduate students to provide feedback on their Programme in a nationally recognised format. There are 27 core questions relating to the aspects of the student learning experience. Students are given the opportunity to give positive and/or negative comments on their student learning experience as a whole at the University.

The survey is run by IPSOS Mori, commissioned by the Office for Students (OfS) on behalf of the UK funding and regulatory bodies. Results are used to inform improvements to the student experience, and to inform future students’ choice of university/programme.

All final year students from the medical undergraduate programme are asked to complete the survey.

The University is very keen that as many students as possible fill in the survey and the staff in Medicine at Manchester believe it is important that we have as much of your feedback as possible, to help us:

• Gauge whether changes introduced to the programme have been successful; and
• Identify where students are encountering positive and negative experiences to help improve the programme in the future.

The survey normally runs January to April and results are normally released July to September.
