Along with a full-on academic life, some medical students enjoy getting involved with the numerous clubs, charities and sporting activities available.

In order to help our students attain a good work-life balance, Medicine at Manchester supports approximately 60 medical student societies. We provide guidance and some funding.

Whatever your interests, there is hopefully a society to suit you. Whether you want to play a sport, sing in a choir, play a musical instrument, volunteer, fundraise or learn more about a particular medical specialty or career pathway.

Depending on circumstances, you can find out more about the range of medical student societies and clubs during the Welcome Week Societies activities.

And if you cannot find a medical student society to suit your tastes, there are of course, more clubs and societies within the wider University of Manchester that you can join. Med Soc

MedSoc is the University of Manchester’s largest student society and is responsible for organising the Welcome Week Societies Fair, pub crawls, Halloween and post-exam socials, the Winter themed ball, half-a-doc ball, the graduation balls and sports socials.

MedSoc is run by an annually elected committee of medical students.

In the common room of the Stopford Building, there is normally a MedSoc shop run by students in Years 1 and 2. Here you can buy MedSoc’s exclusive hoodies, or a MedSoc card, which provides discounts on all our events, and fantastic offers at various shops/eateries around Manchester.
